It's been like, 9 months, 10 days, 7 hours, 3 minutes, 22 seconds, four doughnuts, a crescent roll, two all-day marathons of RedvsBlue...wait, sorry, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, bad lyrics from Wayne and some NG *ahem* artists. I don't think Wayne's lyrics are particularly that good, and when he makes his own beats....I get physically ill. Like, go to the hospital and get some penicillin ill. Seriously. Have you heard his mixtape tracks with his own beats? It's like a convention full of NG AP noobs bashed randomly on a single midi keyboard, chopped it up and sequenced it on Magix Music Creator, then fed it all through Audacity and randomly applied effects...then threw all of that into a gater and threw a stock 808 beat on top with a pitiful excuse for a 4 note bass rhythm on top of all that. And then he raps about lollipops over it.

As for Nas' new album, haven't heard it yet. I was a bit disappointed with Nas' comments about the south killin' hip hop, haven't really paid much attention to him since. I disagree with generalizations like that. I like to think that it isn't the south, it's all Mike Jones and Mims fault. Mostly Mike Jones. Like, 99% Mike Jones. You know what, I'll just come right out and say it: fuck Mike Jones. Ok, now that I got that off my chest...who, Mike Jones, who, Mike Jones! I think when Nas said that, he was generalizing the whole hype over the crunk-type shit that's going around. But yeah that's a bad generalization - TI is one of the very few DECENT rappers in the mainstream right now, and he's reppin the south :P Again, it's basically the majority of mainstream rappers that be killin hip-hop...regardless of whether they're from the south, east coast, west coast, whatever. I can name about 200 underground rappers that would top almost anyone you hear on the radio, including probably 10 people on NG alone.

Lucky Luciano, Keke, Trae, Z-Ro, Crunchy Black and Lord Infamous (the Lost 3-6 Mafia members) Yukmouth, Scarface forever and ever, all been underground since underground began and all underrated. Face had big albums but he's always havin' to break out every 3 or 4 years again just to get recognition, he gets sat on by A&R from the bigs. And from now til the end of time, Pimp C and Bun B will round out my top 10 underground artists who shoulda, woulda, coulda been and will BE (at least Bun) major league stars. But if you ever get a chance, seriously, Lucky Luciano called out Lil Flip in '05 or '06, took away his Freestyle King crown with one of those 100 bar freestyles on a swift (like 120 BPM+) beat while he was sippin' a tall glass of lean at a concert/barbecue in Houston on a damned Dope House records DVD for Baby Bash's promotion. That kid should be on the airwaves cuz he can do intelligent wordplay in freestyles using multisyllable words that the fans toss at him as he freestyles, crazy shit.

And...Crunchy is awesome. You heard his 3-6 shit, no doubt, but his solos! The guy was bein' stifled for real. Now, I will freely admit that he's got some crunk/club simple rhymes, some Lil Jon OOOKKKAAAYYYYY! shit, yes, but he's got some crazy stuff too with that crazy voice of his. But it might not be everyone's cup of tea...and yes, Lucky Luciano is a beast.

He's been outta 3-6 since early 07, I believe, maybe sooner. In fact, definitely sooner because he was bitching about not getting paid for his lyrics in "High", and he dropped a mixtape in early to mid 07.

And to Merc: as an example, I'd rather listen to Silly Billy here - or even YOU - than half the rappers I see when I flip by MTV jams and shit. Like seriously they don't deserve to be making that money...Lil Bow Wow and fuckin Soulja Boy, "Macro Polo" GAY! (Please tell me you weren't refering to this song) I don't get it: Lyrics are about the same typical shit, flow isn't anything great, rhymes are elementary; why is this shit popular? Why are these guys getting more exposure, fame, and money than the people with 20X more talent?

Same reason Mike Jones seemed great before signing: he had hype and everyone loves to see the underdog get some money out of the game. The problem was that's all they lived on, hype, not talent, not future value and goals, just the hype of now. You gotta improve and keep steppin' up, but people like that never do. They think their next hit has to be an exact copy of their last hit, with some minor word changes and a new dance. Or, if you're Mike Jones, no need for the word changes OR the dance...just say "Who?! Mike Jones!!" sixteen times and call it a 16 bar freestyle.

CHINGO BLING! I knew he'd be in that vid...guy can't rap for shit, but his shows are fuckin' awesome and he's real appreciative of fans. I saw him at a Dope House show with Grimm, Rasheed, Bash and some no-names back in '04 or '05. Lucky hadn't been signed at that time, I don't think. If he was, he wasn't at that show. But Chingo was hilarious. Rappin' about tamales and hos, can't lose at that game.
